I just heard the news this weekend and had to at least leave a message and offer my condolences to all of her family.I was a very young man, 13 years old I think, when I first met Mrs. Newell. My mother just happened to run into her in town and found out she was looking for someone to help her with her lawn work. Arrangements were made to meet the next morning so up the hill I peddled my bicycle.
From the very first moment I met her she treated me like her own son. There was almost always a treat or a tall glass of my favorite soda waiting for me when I finished work for the day. The one big project we tackled together was the stone front sidewalk that we installed. It must have turned out OK because, before I knew it, I was also taking care of Ursula's yard across the road. I can honestly say, even as a teenager, I enjoyed peddling up the hill to spend time with my adoptive Aunts.
As the years passed I made it a point to stop for a visit each time I was in town. I would meet Ginny and Ursula at one of their houses when home for the holidays or summer vacation. It was important to me that they got to see my family grow and even more important that my three daughters got to know two wonderful ladies that had such a large impact on my life. I am sad that the last few years Ginny was not feeling up to any visits so we would try to catch up as much as we could over the phone.

Ginny was a wonderful person, full of life and love. She touched many lives including mine and my entire family. I remember fondly the many times she would join my father and her brother Gene in song accompanied by my father on the organ. What wonderful memories I have. She will be greatly missed. My sympathies to all the family.
