Loutzenhiser-Jordan Online Guestbook for Shade Speight

I send my prayers to the Speight family. I knew Shade when I was a young boy growing up in Greenville and he worked at Damascus Tubes. I'd help him do his stuff around the offices when I was there with my dad, Dick Mills, who also spoke highly of Shade and his work ethic. In fact, my dad sold him our 1949 Ford and I loved seeing Shade driving it around Greenville. Sounds like he lived a full life...as it should have been

Curtis, Ellie & Eugene & family, I was wanting to send my sympathies to all of you and your families for the loss of a great man and your father. I also grew up on South Second Street and remember that Mr. & Mrs. Speight was the greatest neighbors anyone could have. Mr Speight had such a huge heart and all of the kids in the neighborhood loved him. I am sure that he has left all of you with GREAT MEMORIES and a huge caring heart as well. Just know, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Ellie my mom enjoyed our last visit with you! She talked about it for many weeks after. God Bless, Ann Marie Fry ( Consiglio )

I am sorry for your loss. Shade was my landlord when I lived in Greenville. A nicer landlord and person/friend would have been hard to find.

Curt and family, I would like to offer my sympathy at the loss of your father. I worked with your dad many years ago at the B&LE and bowled with him in the Company league. I will always remember that he would say when he rolled a gutter ball, "did you see that form".

We want to offer our condolences. We haven't seen "Mr. Speight" for many years, but he was one of our first landlords when got married - the little house on Homer Street. We always loved talking to him and hearing his stories about working the railroad as a porter(if our memory is correct!). We hope your family is able to cherish these stories.
