Loutzenhiser-Jordan Online Guestbook for Ruth Britton Hodge
Jerry and Judy,
We are sending our deepest sympathies to you both and your families. Your mother was such a delightful person to be around when we visited my mother at the Ridgewood!
We are sorry we were not able to make it to the funeral, and we were hoping to be out at the lake to stop and visit you and offer our condolences...but we haven't been out there lately.
We will see you soon,
Nancy & Don Rakoci

I'll remember Aunt Ruth as that loving, always happy woman at the center of those ever growing family reunions. And no wonder she was always happy, surrounded by such a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her so. She will be greatly missed, but well remembered by all.

Words are not adequate for describing my Mother in Law, Ruth! Yet I want to share something of what she means to me. She endured limited movement, ongoing pain, etc, yet she always stayed as active as possible. She never had a pity party and always made the best of her situation. She was a tough, independent, self-reliant woman. She had multiple gifts---an incredible cook, an eye for beauty, a creativity in many areas, an alert and bright mind --- an incredible person who touched us in ways we will more fully discern in the years ahead. We love you, Ruth.

When I was a kid visiting the house, I would marvel at my Aunt Ruth's ability to be working on a meal, carrying on a conversation or two, and keeping track of all the kids and what they were doing all at once. She seemed to have the mind of three people at once.

I bumped into Mrs. Hodge a number of times in the last couple of decades when I would be in Greenville to visit my mother, once in downtown, and a number of times at St. Paul's. She always had a huge smile on her face, and always remembered me. She said the days on East Avenue were the most fun, all the kids were in each other's back yards all day long. My sympathies are with you.

Aunt Ruth was a one in a million Lady! I can't ever remember a time in all my life when I didn't see her smiling or out and out laughing. When I was a little girl I was always so proud that she was one of my aunts. She was always such an intelligent woman and willing to carry her share of the conversation (and then some, might we agree?). What a wonderful, lovely, smart lady and how blessed are those of us to have known her, to have been related to her, to have shared larger or smaller portions of this journey of life with her. Celebrate and cherish your memories of her; I know she is looking down on you, on us all with one of her great big smiles.

Dear Jerry, Jean, Barbara, and Scott, and family: Please accept our condolences in the passing of your Mother Ruth. I have so many good memories of her at your homes on East Ave. and Third Ave., at our Church, at your camping at Pymatuning, in Mother's bridge club, and many other ways during my growing up years and on into my adult years. May the Good Lord welcome her and Bless you all.

Dear Jerry, Scott, Jean, Barbara and families,
Sending my deepest sympathy. I will always have so many fond memories of your mom. She was so fun and full of life, and always ready to have a good time. I will never forget the pool parties, Red Hat Outings, and cooking with her in the kitchen. She taught me so much. She always talked about her family and she loved you all so much. Thanks for sharing her with us!
My thoughts and prayers are with each one of you during this difficult time, Linda Davis- St.Paul's
