One of our long-serving community leaders. I remember driving to Clarksville St for groceries - probably because it was the outer limits of my early driving permissions. And caddying for a really nice guy.

My sincere condolences to the entire Mechenbier family. Norb was my Notre Dame buddy. We spoke often of the University and only a little about football. I'll remember him always.

I am very saddened to learn of your Dads passing, About a month ago I had the opportunity to see him at walmart sitting up front while your mom shopped, we talked a good while about his life in Pittsburgh as a young man and how he happened to come to Greenville. I reminded him I worked at Sanitary Market long ago when my daughter was a baby, it was nice to get a chance to talk . You all have my deepest sympathy and love June Gessler

To the complete Mechenbier Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of sadness. I remember Norm at a very young age when my parents would take me to the Sanitary Market with them and also just recently at St. Michael's Church on Saturday night Mass. He always had a nice smile for everyone and pleasant hello. I am sure his life is full of great memories for all of us. Rest in Peace, Norm.

Condolences Diann, Mrs. Mechenbier and families for your loss of Norb. Friday evenings were always bustling at the market as we and grandparents would shop. He always helped make that seem like a better experience as he'd answer shopper questions, assisting where he could make things more convenient as he'd often carry filled grocery bags out for customers. Our families appreciated his attitude. Peace to you all!
