Loutzenhiser-Jordan Online Guestbook for Judith G. Newton

Judy was a wonderful friend and colleague. We are very saddened to hear of her death. We enjoyed her tremendously, and will miss her greatly. Her life was good in every way. May we all remember her as she was -- a truly human, loving, and caring person at Thiel, Trinity, and the community. May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry for your loss. "Mrs. Newton", as I knew her, was one of my key professors at Thiel when I was there for Computer Science from 1986-1990. She had a profound effect on my life and career. There are many fond memories that I have of helping her out with the computer room and open houses and attending her classes. I am honored to have been one of her students.

I just heard the sad news about Judy. She was not only a terrific professor (won't ever forget Cobol class) but a friend. I always enjoyed by visits with her when I was back in Greenville. I, of course, did not see her enough. Please know if there is anything I can do, just let me know.

While I continue to struggle with the circumstances of her death, it warmed my heart to see the outpouring of love for my mother last night. Especially touching were the words of her former students who told me of the positive impact she had on their lives both while they were at Thiel and in the years that followed. I think that's a legacy that she would be very proud of. Thank you to everyone who shared your memories of her with me.

Saddened to hear of Judy's passing. She was a great lady and will be missed. I had the privilege of taking my CS classes from her from 84-88 and as a colleague at Thiel from 1999 to 2012. You will be missed and so glad I was able to see you a couple months ago.

I have had the deepest respect for Judy. She and I have both been at Thiel a very long time. I enjoyed seeing her on a daily basis as we worked in the same building. I also admired her as a great professor, whom I had the privilege of taking her classes. She will be missed more than words can express.

I had the pleasure to work with Judy on a number of committees. And while there are many attributes I could reflect upon, I am most grateful for and will most remember Judy's wonderfully kind, supportive, and genuinely enthusiastic response to the sudden adoption of our son. She was a truly fine person and will be missed.

Dear Family and Friends of Judy, I share your sorrow and wish that I could be with you in these sad days, though I'm not able to be there as I'm away in Minnesota on necessary family business. I'm sending my heartfelt sympathies and prayers as you walk through these difficult days following Judy's death. Judy was delightful, kind and brilliantly intelligent. She extended a warm Thiel College welcome to me and to my husband, Jack. We sat together at several dinners on campus. She shared wonderful stories and tales of her teaching at the college. She clearly loved her students and her co-workers. She was beloved and will be dearly missed. Blessings in Christ Jesus, Pastor Jayne

It was a pleasure having Prof. Newton as an instructor..... and even after I no longer had a class with her, if I had a question she was always willing to help. She will be missed. God bless.

It was a privilege to work under Judy Newton in the Fall 2013 semester as she was head of the Math Department. We had many spirited conversations involving our mutual loves of teaching, Mathematics and California. I will follow her advice. Sorry that I will be unable to attend memorial service.

Prof. Newton was a wonderful professor at Thiel College. She was kind to all of her students, compassionate, and always willing to help. She was there if you ever needed extra guidance in her class as well as others. The Thiel College community and family has truly lost "one of their finest." I am forever grateful for what Prof Newton taught me during my four years at Thiel. Most importantly, she was a wonderful woman, she even attended many volleyball games to support another Math major and me. I always looked forward to seeing her smiling in the stands and cheering for the Lady Cats. Thanks again Prof. Newton, you will be missed. You helped mold me into the Math teacher that I am today, I will always keep you in my heart. Thiel College Class of 2001 Chrissy Toth

I am so deeply sorry for your terrible loss. I had the privilege of enjoying Judy's wonderful wit, intelligence, compassion and friendship during our years spent at Thiel College. Thiel was a better place because of Professor Newton. Judy was my daughter's FYS professor her freshman year. Gabby adored Judy! We will greatly miss her in our lives.

Judith was a true friend. She was a friend that you can trust because Judith was a leader who helped and encouraged growth and improvement of her peers. She worked hard and she was always available to listen and to help find a solution to any problem that was presented to her. She will be missed. She is in God's hands now. May she rest in peace.

Judy was a great colleague and a great friend. She always made an effort to say good morning to me when I came into work and to say goodbye before leaving. Judy was extremely helpful to me during the last two years as I made the adjustment to teaching at Thiel. She was always willing to listen to my ideas and complaints and give me feedback. Judy was always able to find something good about a person and she would compliment them on it. She will be greatly missed by my entire family.

May Judy's gentle spirit continue to guide her family and all of us in the days and years ahead. Judy's love for all things mathematical and exact, clear and uncluttered, is only one of the many fine attributes I always cherished about her. She was a joy to work with and an honor to know. Heaven is the richer for her presence.

Judy, took time and special interest into Michael's success as a student veteran attending college after 5 years of service. He faced many challenges getting adjusted to the classroom. Judy had the foresight to acknowledge his potential and spend many extra hours dedicated to tutoring and advising him on his education and on life. Because of her invested time Michael excelled. She changed his life and gave him the confidence that he was able to do what he once thought was impossible. Her mentorship and kindness will not be forgotten. Incredibly saddened by the loss of such a wonderful kind hearted person. Prayers to her family.
